. passengers are still aboard that plane. the fbi has now been called in. and we understand that of course authorities are already searching the plane. on the phone for us is a former assistant secretary from the department of homeland security, juliette kayam. she now works for the "boston globe." thank you for joining us to help us understand why those passengers are still ond board that plane when the threat was some sort of liquid. >> what we don't know right now, this would be normally routine. one, they have to figure out the most important thing was this a hoax or not. the specificity that there's an individual on this plane, you know, makes it sound like there might be a little bit of -- i don't want to say, you know, a hockey behind it. because you tend not to get calls in like this with real terrorist attacks. and so they now have to figure out who that potential person is. so this is pretty routine. the fbi's involvement would be routine. we tend to forget, you know, that next weekend is the 11th anniversary of september 11. we have been focused on the conventions. and so there
pads could be under attack. >> a hacker group said it stole personal information from an fbi laptop. melanie alnwick has more on this. >> reporter: the group calls itself antisect for saint security and -- for antisecurity and it claims it was able to hack into an fbi agent's laptop to find the file. it wants the public to know, in its words, the fbi is using this apple i.d. information for a tracking people project. anti-sect linked up with the group anonymous to publicize the data breach. many sites posted the data. 1million information datas linked to iphones and ipads and the device name. the fbi disputed the claims saying the bureau never asked for or possessed a file of apple i.d. information. still, many organizations have been able to verify the apple i.d.'s posted are valid. every apple device has a unique identification number. it let's itunes and ideveloppers know which is running which app. for example, it can allow a game developer to keep track of the high score. they found 12 million apple i.d.'s and there is a data file with user names, zip codes, cell phone numbers and addre

. the fbi now says there is no evidence to support claims that hacking group anonymous infiltrated an fbi agent's laptop and lifted data for more than 12 million apple products. however the front page of "the financial times" lays it out and says hackers embarrass apple with this data release. there were over a million different devices, numbers were published online. this is a story that has many odd twists. the hackers said they would not give any interviews about this breach until a gawker posed with a ballet tutu with a shoe on his head for at least 24 hours. so the journalist did just that. he said that he would do anything for his craft. here is a picture of him posing in a tutu with a shoe on his head. anonymous went after this particular reporter because they've had some run-ins with him in the past. they haven't liked some of his reporting. he says, here it is. it's still posted on the front page of gawker. >> this is the best publicity gawker could possibly have today. >> really? >> i mean, right, a reporter with a tutu and a shoe on his head? >> what's more frighten is what's a

, as the fbi and other agencies try to figure out who carried out the malicious attack that killed ambassador chris stevens and three other americans. >> i want to assure you, we will bring their killers to justice. >> reporter: the attack was complex and preplanned. likely, for the anniversary of september 11th. it was around 10:00 at night in libya. 20 heavily armed attackers began firing at the libyan security guards, protecting the american consulate, before setting the main building ablaze. inside, ambassador stevens and several others were trapped between the flames and the gunfire. stevens became separated from the others by the heavy, black smoke, while trying to exit the building. it was nearly a five-hour gun battle. additional security eventually regained some control, while employees escaped. but the buildings are now abandoned. it was also nearly 12 hours before ambassador stevens' body was returned by local libyans, who carried him to a hospital in an effort to save him. a contingent of some 50 u.s. marines is now at the embassy in tripoli this morning. every u.s. mission around
